Compass and Map Measure

The Silva 8 is a straightforward accurate compass by probably the best known manufacturer in this field, Silva of Sweden. The compass is mounted on a capsule with a 50mm measure along the leading edge. This model is simple to use and while it does not have a sighting mirror it is ideal for all but the specialist. Obvious users are climbers, walkers, orienteerers and cross-country skiers. We can supply a much fuller range of Silva compasses from wristwatch style to key fob as well as those with sighting mirrors. Please request details. The Pen Map Measure is an ideal "stocking filler" or inexpensive gift for the motorist or route planner. The route is simply traced by the rotating nib of this pen shaped instrument and the distance can be calculated for any scale of map, either in miles or kilometres. Ideal to keep in the glove compartment of the car. Our Tip: We recently supplied a quantity of these to our local Venture Scouts for a pioneer course. Also, it is remarkable how many people set out to walk the Southern Upland or St Cuthbert Ways and forget a compass - just as well we`re located in Melrose otherwise there would be a few lost walkers on the Eildon Hills!
